During the session, you’ll have the opportunity to examine some samples of cured meat and vegetarian products while your eye movements are tracked using a standard commercial tracking system attached to a pair of glasses. Following this, you’ll be asked to complete a brief questionnaire. Please note that this study solely involves visual inspection of the products; there’s no tasting involved.

Who can participate?

The only requirement for participation is that:

• you do not wear glasses (contact lenses are acceptable)
• you generally consume meat.

This study is being conducted in collaboration with the University of Turku, Teagasc (Agriculture and Food Development Authority, Ireland), and University College Dublin.

The yogurts evaluated during the study can contain milk. Also, moving image is projected on a large wall and it may irritate people prone to migraine. It is OK to leave the room in the middle of the study.

Please note that the samples contain oat, egg, milk, fish, wheat, hazelnut, almond and sulphate. The samples may contain traces of peanut, other nuts, soy and sesame seeds.

Open doors in Aistikattila with halloween theme

In Aistikattila, you can step into a halloween themed multisensory environment at 10:30 – 13. Welcome to enjoy for instance your lunch or coffee in the space or just stop by to take in the atmosphere – if you dare!

There will be staff of Flavoria present, who will happily tell you more about our facilities or the My Flavoria® -app. We will also hand out small snacks to our visitors. Welcome!

Take part in a study on the lunch line

We will also ask visitors using the lunch line to take part in a study. The researchers are testing out a method to define the composition of lunch portions. There will be representatives of Flavoria present to help you with the lunch line and the My Flavoria® -app. Please notice, that the app is currently available only in Finnish. There is a small gift for each participant.

How to participate?

To take part in the study, all you have to do is to weigh your lunch using the scales and register your lunch to the My Flavoria -app. You can download the app on Google Play or App Store. Please notice, that the app is currently available only in Finnish. There will be representatives of Flavoria present to help you participate.

After registering your lunch to the app, you get a small gift from our staff.

The Department of Life Technologies of the University of Turku will carry out the research during 2022. The study includes three study periods of three (3) days. There is a break of three (3) days between the study periods. Other foods containing milk are prohibited during the study periods.

You may be suitable for the study if:

• You get symptoms from regular milk
• You are 18–65 years old
• Your weight index is 18.5–30
• You have not received antibiotic treatment in the last 3 months
• You do not have regular medication (excluding hormonal contraception)

There is no immediate long-term benefit expected for the study participant.
